The Honourable Alison Harvison Young is Of Counsel to McCarthy Hansen & Company, bringing to the firm a distinguished career spanning the judiciary, legal academia, mentorship and public service.
Her Honour was appointed to the Court of Appeal for Ontario in 2018, following 14 years on the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Prior to her judicial appointments, she held senior academic leadership positions including Dean and Professor of Law at Queen’s University and Professor of Law and Associate Dean at McGill University. Her teaching and scholarship have focused on family law, administrative law, comparative law and remedies.
A defining thread throughout Her Honour’s career has been her commitment to mentorship, legal education and access to justice. She has remained deeply engaged in mentoring lawyers and students and advancing professional development within the legal community. As Counsel, The Honourable Harvison Young provides strategic and practical advice to the firm and its clients, drawing on her extensive judicial, academic and dispute resolution experience. She also offers mediation services and supports the mentorship and professional development of the firm’s lawyers and students.
