Haya Sakakini

Haya holds a J.D. from the University of British Columbia.
Before commencing law school, Haya worked in the human rights field in the Middle East for three years where she gained advocacy skills from a social justice lens that she uses in her family law practice today.
During law school, Haya was a clinician at Rise Women’s Legal Centre where she provided free or low-cost family law services to women. Haya also volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program where she prepared for two trials and assisted clients in various areas of civil and criminal law.
Haya won the Allan Falconer Memorial Student Essay competition in 2021, and as a result, her research paper on the intersection of psychological abuse claims and family law was published in the Canadian Journal of Family law.
